Our recently completed renovation project here at Chelsea heights in collaboration with Forest One and Egger! Within this project, we wanted to extend the living space of the existing 1960s home to provide a more suited open plan living area for our family of 5. The original floor plan although somewhat open in design was quite restrictive and congested in its layout. The living, kitchen, dining & laundry were all compacted into the main living area, in addition the previous owners looked to undertake DIY renovation works and although we could see somewhat their vision, the concept and attempted delivery was poor and lacking thus, there were a number of key areas within the home that we felt we could improve upon to add quality and value.
Within the main living area; we chose to extend the foot print by 5m thus allowing us to create a master bedroom retreat with walk in robe & ensuite, home office, a designated dining area and a gorgeous covered & elevated deck! As seen in the image above, held within this new dining area is also additional work spaces which is perfect for schoolwork. This is seperate to the home office space which is private and allows us to create a distinction between work/life balance!
Within our project; we selected a palette which resonated with us; upon visiting the Forest One showroom in Abbotsford, we instantly fell in love with the newly launched black TM28 woodmatt finish as seen here in the kitchen cabinetry. I love colour and infuse into every project I work within and so our finishes were always going to be bold. To complement the black laminate finish, we chose to introduce Sea salt green seen here in the overhead units and this then paired with a stunning grey quartzite stone from Cosentino completed our kitchen look. These finishes are mirrored throughout our home in the walk in robes, bathrooms & seperate laundry room we created by borrowing footprint from existing bedroom plan.
